📜 The Spartan Softball Code of Conduct

Being a Spartan is a privilege. We hold our athletes and families to high standards of sportsmanship and integrity. DasCHE Spartans Handbook has a code of conduct that must be followed. In addition to it, Spartan Softball has their own code of conduct that must be followed.

Sportsmanship: Players in uniform will support DasCHE sports before any other team. They will show good sportsmanship at games or any other events they attend. Players will have a Christ-like attitude towards one another and everyone they encounter, including an opposing team. We are ambassadors of DasCHE Spartans and of Christ, and we want that to show in our choices and actions on and off the field.

Attitude: Players must come to all practices, games and events with a positive, encouraging and teachable attitude. They will be respectful to the coach, parents and admins on and off the field. Poor attitudes disrupt events, and it will not be tolerated on the team. This is for players and coaches alike.

Cell Phones - there will be no phones out in the dugout or on the field. Once players walk through those gates, their focus should be on softball — their teammates, their responsibilities, and the game plan.

Attendance: Attendance is critical to any team sport. To be respectful to the team and coach, we need girls present at practices and games in order to be productive and to take full advantage of our time together. We understand that events will be missed. If you will be out, please communicate with coaches in writing at least 48 hours prior to the practice or event.

Uniforms: Uniforms (game and practice) must be kept clean. We are representing the DasCHE organization, our team, and our leaders when we are in uniform.  Game uniforms change each day and will be sent out no later than Sunday night the week of games.

*Players and families wearing any item that represents DasCHE Spartans at any time are expected to represent themselves in a Christ-like manner. They should conduct themselves in a way that respects and honors our cheer team and other DasCHE sports.

Family/Friend attendance: While we do not want to control who comes to cheer on our players, we will require that friends and family remain in the stands or in their chairs without contact once warm-ups begin and throughout the game. This allows our players to stay focused on their performance and on the needs of the team.

We will not tolerate disruption or disrespect of any kind, even from game attendees and visitors. We are here for softball and for player development. We must always remember that when we show up at the field, we represent much more than ourselves — we represent our families, our team, our organization, and most importantly, Jesus Christ. That is what sets us apart. That is what makes us special.

What is considered homeschool: Every athlete participating in DasCHE Spartans Sports must be at least 51% homeschooled. A normal course load for a full-time student is six (6) core courses; therefore, if a student-athlete is taking more than three (3) courses at a public, private, or vocational school, he/she is not considered 51% homeschooled. If there are special circumstances, a student may apply for a hardship exemption.

Social Media Policy from Spartan Handbook:

We are a Christian organization and abide by Biblical principles. Being a member of any Spartans Sports Team is a privilege, not a right. DasCHE members (athletes, coaches, leaders, and parents) are responsible for their own behavior when communicating with social media and will be held accountable for the content of the communications that they state/post on social media locations. It is the responsibility of all users to carefully consider their behavior and what they place online when communicating with or "friending" any individual.

Guidelines include but are not limited to the following: No cyberbullying is permitted. This is defined as the use of electronic technologies to hurt or harm other people. Examples include: Sending offensive text messages or emails; posting statements that are not true and creating rumors; or circulating embarrassing photos of a classmate online. No conversation in regard to terrorist threats. No foul or explicit language. No references to the DasCHE association or any entity of the association in a negative fashion. No sexually explicit language or photographs. No messages that could be interpreted as racially insensitive. Disciplinary actions will be determined by the Sports Management Team and will be determined on a case by case basis.
